There have been more incidents with mountain lions in Coal Creek Canyon.

Here is a message from Jan Waddington, Canyonite and local contact for reporting wildlife encounters to Colorado Parks and Wildlife (formerly Colorado Division of Wildlife, DOW).

To Coal Creek Canyon Residents
The problem we have had with mt. lions attacking dogs has continued. A large Rottweiler was killed on Circle Drive last week, and two dogs were badly injured at 9000 ft. on Coal Creek Heights. One incident was at dawn the other at dusk.
Please be sure your pets are well supervised at all times, or inside a fully enclosed sturdy kennel. Lions do jump fences. Lock that doggie door.
We know this is not easy, but essential.

(Please report encounters with wildlife to Jan at 0926.)

Here is the Colorado Parks & Wildlife advice on living with wildlife, specifically here is information on living with Mountain Lions.

Here is a new CP&W safety video on Mountain Lions which has information for your safety (and some on pets, whereas the living with Mountain Lion information has more information.)
