Thinning the trees & shrubs around your property is a key element in a wild-fire mitigation plan. Allowing trees more individual space allows for healthier forests, and clearing a defensible space around your property help reduce wild-fire threat to your home. These activities result in tree/shrub slash that needs to be removed (not piled on the property.)

Jefferson County are (once more) sponsoring slash collection in Coal Creek Canyon. Slash collection is available to all residents of Coal Creek Canyon, from any of the there counties (i.e. it is not restricted to Jefferson County residents only.) See more information here:

Slash dates are:

June 6th & 7th – 32895 Highway 72, Coal Creek Canyon Fire Department Station #2

This will be located at Coal Creek Canyon Fire Station #2 (up by Camp Eden Rd, towards Wondervu) the same spot as many previous collections.

June 20th & 21st – Open Space property near Blue Mountain Drive.

This will be on a small piece of Open Space just outside of Blue Mountain along the south side of State Highway 72.
