The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for Tuesday, Sept. 19 that includes Coal Creek Canyon. A Red Flag warning means weather conditions (typically a combination of winds, heat, and low humidity) are set for potential extreme fire behavior; i.e. significant combustion and rapid spread.
A red flag warning allows NO open air burning. The forecast is for increased fire danger through Thursday, so fire restrictions are likely to extend through most of this week.
For more information see the National Weather Service bulletin.
Our fire weather zones are Fire Weather Zone 239 (below 6,400 ft) and Fire Weather Zone 215 (above 6,400 ft.).
