UPDATE: Rumor has it that Smokey the Bear will be making an appearance, and there will be rides in a Fire Engine for the kids (and maybe even those who are kids at heart)!!! In addition, there will be some light refreshments. Hope to see you there!

Don’t have plans this Saturday afternoon?? Come on up to Station 4 for the Coal Creek Canyon Fire Department’s Open House. The event will be Saturday, 11/4 from 1:00 – 4:00 PM, and all family members are welcome! What kid doesn’t want to play on a fire truck?? Station 4 is located at 34697 Gap Road, and is home to our newest and biggest wildland vehicle. To get there, turn off 72 at Twin Spruce Rd just below Carl’s Corner. Twin Spruce will turn into Gap, and Station 4 is right before Gap Rd enters Golden Gate Canyon Park. Come check out the equipment we use to keep the canyon safe, and meet some of your local firefighters.
Have friends, family, or neighbors in the canyon who might be taking time off from social media? Spread the word and let them know about the Open House! We’d like to meet as many Canyon residents as possible.
We’re also in the middle of our annual recruitment drive, so if you’re thinking about volunteering as a Wildland or Full Firefighter, but still haven’t requested an application, stop by and ask us any questions you might have. The area off of Gap Rd is especially in need of new recruits, so if you live up near Station 4, we’re definitely interested in your participation as a volunteer. Everybody in the canyon benefits from a fire department with strong participation.
