The National Weather Service has issued a High Wind Warning starting midnight Friday (Feb 16) that includes the Coal Creek Canyon Fire Protection District. Wind gusts of 70 to 85 MPH are possible through the weekend, which greatly increases the danger of significant combustion and rapid spread for any wildland fire. Because of this:

NO OPEN BURNING WILL BE PERMITTED IN THE COAL CREEK CANYON FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT SATURDAY OR SUNDAY (Feb 17-18)

For more information see the National Weather Service bulletin.

Our fire weather zones are Fire Weather Zone 239 (below 6,400 ft) and Fire Weather Zone 215 (above 6,400 ft.).
