As a result of the ongoing warming and drying trend the mountains around us are drying out. We’ve had hot/dry/windy days – including red flag days – and the vegetation is now more susceptible to fire.

The entirety of the Coal Creek Canyon Fire Protection District is now under a Level 2 FIRE BAN.

Outdoor burning of wood, charcoal, and tiki torches is prohibited, as is smoking within an area that is not free of combustible materials. Fires contained within liquid fueled or gas fueled stoves, lanterns, or heating devices are permitted, however extreme caution is recommended.
